Talk to Someone

Posted by MomOfRose on March 22, 2011 in Deals

***This deal is now complete.***

One of the most difficult aspects to online dating is the cost. Most sites are free to use if you’re just looking around, it doesn’t cost you a cent to see who is out there that could be a potential match. But to actually talk to someone, that’s where the membership fees come in, and rightly so. The way I see it, if you’re really serious about meeting new people, then you become a member of the dating site and you are allowed to communicate with anyone your heart desires.

As a single mom, sometimes those membership fees are a bit steep for my budget. But when I find someone I think I might be interested in, I want to talk to them, not just “wink” or “smile” at them for weeks. I want to e-mail and chat and possibly exchange phone numbers.

Well, guess what?!? Chemistry.com is having a Free Communication Weekend from 3/25/11 until 3/27/11.

So sign up, check out who’s available in your area and then from Friday to Sunday you can take advantage of the opportunity to send messages to the singles you’re interested in.

Not in the market? Share this with someone you know who is dating (or trying to date). And while we’re at it, if you know someone who is using online dating sites, when it comes to birthdays or holidays, consider giving the gift of a membership! Who knows, if they meet the one you could say you brought them together!

Classic Movies

Posted by MomOfRose on February 4, 2011 in Deals

Gone With The Wind. Mary Poppins. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Rear Window.

Movies I’ve seen. At home. On my little TV. I have never had a chance to see them on the BIG screen. You know, at the movie theater.

Well now I can (and you can too)!

Cinema City Stadium Theatres in Anaheim Hills, CA is showing classic films (some even in *gasp* black and white). Two Wednesdays a month, $7.00 a ticket all through 2011. How awesome!

Click here for a list of the movies they’ll be showing in 2011. You can even buy the tickets online a week in advance. Just go to their home page, click the date the movie is showing and choose the movie you want to see!

Good Deal!

Groupon. Have you used it yet? I LOVE it! I’ve had half-off sushi (twice!), whale watching trips, frozen yogurt, ice skating, mani-pedis, and Bath & Body Works. Amazing!

If you haven’t used/heard of Groupon, it’s a deal-a-day site that offers local coupons/gift certificates for 50% off the usual price. Things from hotel stays, photo sessions, art lessons, workout classes… you name it, they’ve sold it! The deal works this way: a retailer offers a product or service for at least 50% off and they set a minimum number of buyers (25 for example). If the deal is purchased by the minimum number of people, the deal is on! If the minimum is not hit, no one gets charged for the deal and the deal is off. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a deal NOT hit the minimum. The Groupon is sent to you via e-mail and that’s it! Use the deal before the expiration date and you’ve scored yourself one mighty discount!

Another great thing about Groupon is that you can get deals in other cities! Traveling to Chicago next month? Keep an eye on what deals are going on there, purchase and use them on your trip! Maybe you’re going on a cruise and you’re starting in Florida? Maybe you can get a spa deal for the day before you leave!

Many offers (though not all) let you purchase multiples as gifts! It was agreed upon in my family that a Groupon is an approved gift for birthdays and holidays! Does your husband like to golf or ride horses? Maybe your best friend loves yoga. Purchase a Groupon for them as a gift!

As a blogger I’ve got ads placed on my site. I work with Commission Junction who has a HUGE list of advertisers I can work with. One of those advertisers is Groupon. As an “affiliate,” Groupon is offering an AWESOME deal that is available to buy starting today and ending Monday, February 7th. Ready?

You pay $10 and get a $20 voucher for Barnes & Noble retails stores and/or website!! It’s even good to use on sale items!

Click hereto be taken to my affiliate site for this FANTASTIC deal. Get yourself a book, buy one for your kid or grand kid, or for a friend’s birthday. Whatever the reason, it’s hard to pass on this deal.

Don’t forget to use  MY link here, otherwise I won’t get any commission (I thank you, from the bottom of my heart.).
